An argument between two brothers resulted in one being sent to the hospital and the other to jail after one was hit in the head with an ax.
Just after midnight Sunday, two brothers, ages 23 and 24, got into an argument over one of the men's girlfriends, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.
After pushing each other back and forth, one man went to his car, grabbed a hatchet, and struck his brother in the back of the head with the sharp end, Jaroscak said.
The victim, who was still able to communicate with deputies, was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital. The brother showed up at the Salt Lake County Jail a short time later after talking to a family pastor who advised him to turn himself in, Jaroscak said. The man was booked into jail for investigation of attempted murder.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the attack.
