Three junior high school students will receive awards for the Davis County Democratic Party's annual Constitutional Essay Contest at the regularly scheduled Davis County School Board meeting on Tuesday.
The winners are:
• First place, Madeleine Hanks, Bountiful Junior High, $500 U.S. Savings Bond plus $100 cash. Her parents are Troy and Becky Hanks.
• Second place, Max Dearden, Bountiful Junior High, $200 U.S. Savings Bond plus $100 cash. His parents are Douglas and Sandra Dearden.
• Third place, Lynette Randall, North Layton Junior High, $100 U.S. Savings Bond plus $100 cash. Her parents are Jason and Ann Randall.
The purpose of the contest is to make students aware of the importance and relevance the Constitution has in today's society. This year's subject was "Which of the Constitutional Amendments is Most Important? What Makes You Believe This?"
