PROVO The Brigham Young University Museum of Art is offering a series of Friday night films in conjunction with the current exhibition "Masterworks of Victorian Art from the Collection of John H. Schaeffer."
This series includes classic films that address Victorian era stereotypes. BYU theatre and media arts professor Dean Duncan will introduce the films and will set the stage by providing background information that will help viewers appreciate the films within their original contexts.
The free film screenings will begin at 7 p.m. in the Museum of Art Auditorium.
• Friday, March 21: "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (U.S., 1945).
• Friday, March 28: "Great Expectations" (U.K., 1946).
• Friday, April 4: "The Importance of Being Earnest" (U.K., 1952).
