A new regional park is coming to the southeast corner of Salt Lake County.

County officials on Tuesday finalized the $5 million purchase of 65 acres on 13800 S. 300 East, just off of Bangerter Highway.

"It's just a great piece of property," Salt Lake County Councilman Jeff Allen said.

The land, however, is under a conservation easement, so no permanent structures like ball fields and the like can be built at the park. Instead, trails will abound, much like Sugarhouse Park, Allen said.

Draper owns 9.8 adjoining acres to the east, and could potentially build a four-plex of baseball diamonds on that land, he said. However, any ideas for developing the land are still big picture.
