HEBER CITY Firefighters responded to a small fire that broke out Monday in the copy room at J.R. Smith Elementary during the morning session of school.
Students and teachers were evacuated to an LDS Church building located next to the school and no injuries occurred. What caused the fire is still under investigation.
The school's sprinkler system contained the fire and officials say it was extinguished quickly. Damage to the building was limited to the copy room.
Students were able to re-enter the building by late morning after crews hand cleaned and cleared the smoke.
