MURRAY — The City Council has hired Michael Wagstaff as its new executive director.

The former deputy for legislation and communication in the city officially will begin on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. He was one of three final candidates interviewed during recent closed council meetings.

Wagstaff's duties will be split with council secretary Jan Lopez. His position has been vacant and is being "re-created," Lopez said.

The two will organize agendas, prepare background material for the council and help manage public relations.
