According to the Tacoma (Wash.) News Tribune, the two "had words when Carlesimo subbed in Luke Ridnour for Marshall. As he walked toward the bench, Marshall appeared to complain about not getting enough minutes, and Carlesimo appeared to tell Marshall he didn't like his effort. After the game, Marshall said the two had a disagreement over defensive rotations. ... Minutes after the argument Marshall threw a Gatorade bottle onto the floor and sulked in his chair for the rest of the first half. Carlesimo didn't put him back in the game."

Marshall, who also argued with Carlesimo when both were with Golden State more than a decade ago, called it "a minor incident," and told the Seattle Times "P.J. is a good guy."

The Jazz's visit to Boston next Friday may not be all that Utah native Scot Pollard of the Celtics misses. After news of a season-ending ankle tendon tear broke this week, some in Boston wondered if Pollard's NBA days are done. According to Thursday's Boston Herald, "Considering Pollard signed just a one-year free agent contract last summer ($1,219,590), the 33-year-old's Celtics career could possibly be over. Pollard acknowledged that (Wednesday) night, but he added, "I haven't even gotten that far yet. I'm still shocked. I feel like I got punched and I'm a little dizzy." ... The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday celebrated "Derek Fisher Day" in L.A., honoring the ex-Jazz and current Los Angeles Lakers guard. The Associated Press reported that Fisher "who likes to shoot from downtown, was honored downtown at a City Hall ceremony where he was praised both as a player and a role model."
