Utah State

FOOTBALL: Coach Brent Guy announced Monday that running back Ronald Scott has signed to play for the Aggies, increasing USU's 2008 signing class to 22 players.

Scott, a native of Palmdale, Calif., is a 6-0, 204-pound running back, and was a first-team all-Golden League selection at Palmdale High School, in addition to an all-CIF selection. He rushed for 830 yards on 120 carries (6.92 ypc) with 19 rushing TD's. Scott also had 19 receptions for 356 yards (18.74 ypc) with four TD's. He was named team MVP and the running back of the year this past season for the Falcons after leading them to a 9-2 record.

The Aggies open Spring practice on March 19 with the Spring Game on April 11. The incoming freshmen will report in August. Utah State is scheduled open the 2008 season on Aug. 30 at UNLV.

MEN'S GOLF: The Aggies finished in 13th place at the Braveheart Classic in Beaumont, Calif., on Tuesday with a 54-hole total of 944. They finished the tournament shooting a 307, their best round during the two-day event.

Junior Devin Daniels (Hyde Park) led Utah State as he finished tied for 41st with a 19-over-par 235.

GYMNASTICS: The Aggies (3-10, 1-5 WAC) will have two gymnastics dual meets in a span of four days. They host No. 35 San Jose State (11-2, 4-1 WAC) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU then heads to Provo on Monday to take on BYU at 4 p.m. Friday's meet marks the first dual between USU and SJSU since Feb. 26, 2001.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Aggies will host two dual matches this weekend, taking on Montana on Friday and Portland State on Sunday. Both matches will be at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club, with Friday's action starting at 1 p.m. and Sunday's at 9 a.m.

Brigham Young

MEN'S GOLF: After three rounds of the USC Collegiate Invitational in Westlake Village, Calif., the BYU men's golf team finished tied for sixth place and ahead of three top-ranked teams.

Sophomore Robbie Fillmore led the way for the Cougars as he finished tied for seventh place overall and 8-over-par for the tournament. Freshman Esteban Calisto and junior Nick Killpack, who finished tied for 34th at 5-over-par, followed Fillmore.

BASEBALL: At Stockton, Calif., Sean McNaughton drove in Andrew Law in the two-run ninth inning Tuesday night to lift BYU past the University of Pacific, 7-5.

The win was the first for southpaw Jake Wortham, who did not surrender a hit in his final three innings. Teammate Jared Miller picked up his first save of the season.

Southern Utah

GOLF: Matt McArthur continued his strong spring play, finishing ninth overall, to lead Southern Utah to a ninth-place finish at UC Riverside's Braveheart Classic on Tuesday.

Weber State

WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Weber State women's tennis team rebounded from an 0-2 road trip last week with a 6-1 home win over Montana State-Billings on Wednesday.

MEN'S TENNIS: The Wildcats ran their record to .500 on the year at 6-6 Wednesday with a 7-0 sweep of Montana State-Billings at the Eagle Ridge Tennis Club.
