House Speaker Greg Curtis, R-Sandy, is in for a fight this fall.
Jay Seegmiller is gunning for the speaker's seat in the Utah House and thinks he can earn back the 20 votes that kept him from the spot two years ago.
Curtis barely edged out Seegmiller in the 2006 election, winning by only 20 votes. The 2008 race marks the third attempt by Seegmiller to win the District 29 seat.
"It is time we had a clean and restored state Legislature," Seegmiller said. "I can think of no better place to start than right at the top."
Saying it is "a time for change," Seegmiller also said that Curtis has "ignored the people on the issues of ethics and campaign reform."
