Pace was the Arizona Cardinals' first-round pick in 2003. He underperformed for most of his five seasons with Arizona, but is coming off his best year. Pace, 27, had 98 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks and an interception after moving from defensive end to linebacker full-time.
Woody, also a former first-rounder, started his career with New England in 1999 and spent the last four seasons with Detroit. He's a versatile lineman who has played center, guard and tackle in his career. With the Jets, Woody could replace veteran Anthony Clement as the starter at right tackle.
Atlanta released running back Warrick Dunn, who had asked to be let go after the Falcons signed Michael Turner on Sunday.
The 33-year-old Dunn averaged only 3.2 yards a carry, but joined the 10,000-yard club last season. For his 11-year career in Tampa and Atlanta, he has 2,484 carries for 10,179 yards and 47 touchdowns, along with 463 receptions for 4,009 yards and 15 TDs.
Tennessee, meanwhile, added one of Dunn's former Falcons teammates, tight end Alge Crumpler. Crumpler and other Atlanta veterans were released before the start of the free agency period.
"Sammy gives us another quality veteran who will definitely help our young guys in their development," coach Tom Coughlin said.
IN OTHER MOVES:
• Defensive end Antwan Odom signed a five-year deal worth $29.5 million with the Bengals. Odom was coming off a career-best season with 16 starts and eight sacks with the Titans. The four-year veteran will receive $11.5 million in guaranteed money in the package, agent Richard Rosa said.
• New Orleans re-signed veteran wide receiver David Patten, who was second on the team in yards receiving last season and third in receptions.
• Chicago traded veteran quarterback Brian Griese back to Tampa Bay for an undisclosed draft picks. The Bucs had released Griese after the 2005 season.
• San Francisco signed running back DeShaun Foster, cut by Carolina, to back up Frank Gore. The 49ers also signed journeyman quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan and linebacker Dontarrious Thomas.
• Jacksonville released veteran guard Chris Naeole, who started 87 games for the Jaguars over the last six seasons. The 33-year-old lineman missed the final eight games last year after tearing a quadriceps tendon. He also skipped a voluntary passing camp last May because he was unhappy with his contract.
• Detroit signed tight end Michael Gaines, who is coming off the best season of his four-year NFL career. The 6-foot-3, 277-pound Gaines made 25 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns in his only season with Buffalo.
