The Health Education Association of Utah is inviting the public and health professionals to its Capacity Building for Healthier Communities 2008 conference on Saturday at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 3100 S. 1355 West in West Valley City.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Marshall Kreuter, author of "Community Health Promotion Ideas That Work." He is a former distinguished scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Other speakers are Wendy Jones, National Center for Cultural Competence at Georgetown University, and a panel on global warming with the University of Utah's Dr. Jim Steenburgh and former Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson.
Kreuter will lead a preconference workshop Thursday titled "Promoting Health in the Face of Wicked Problems."
