NEW ORLEANS — One twin, Jazz backup center Jarron Collins, is in his seventh season with the same NBA team that drafted him.

The other, fellow Stanford product Jason Collins, was dealt earlier this season, from New Jersey to Memphis, for the first time in his seven-season career.

"Hopefully it's something to be said about my brother and myself," Jarron Collins, who will see Jason for the first time in Grizzlies uniform when the Jazz visit Memphis tonight, said of the fact the two both managed to remain with the same team so long.

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was asked Friday just what it says.

"I think everybody looks for guys that are going to try to do the right thing," Sloan said. "To me, that's what being a professional is all about: Wherever you are, whatever position they put you in, you handle it the same way.

"Jarron hasn't changed at all. I'm sure he'd like to be playing more, because he's told me that. But as far as his work habits — working in the weight room, working with (assistant coaches) Scott (Layden) and Ty (Corbin), and working with (strength coach) Mark (McKown) — that's what it's all about.

"It's not about being a sore thumb," Sloan added, "and being upset with everything that goes on."

Collins, who has essentially has been cut from Sloan's regular rotation late this season, did log 10 minutes in Friday's 110-98 loss at New Orleans. He scored five points — including a free throw that was his first point since a Jan. 21 game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

GIRICEK TO PHOENIX: Ex-Jazz swingman Gordan Giricek was waived Friday by Philadelphia, and — assuming he clears waivers Tuesday — reportedly will sign with Phoenix.

The veteran from Croatia would be eligible for the Suns' playoff roster and presumably would be ready to play when the Jazz visit Phoenix on Friday.

"Personally speaking," said Jason Collins, a friend of Giricek's, "I'm glad to hear he'll get an opportunity — whereas he wasn't able to do that in Philadelphia. But he's right back to being an adversary."

The 76ers acquired Giricek and a future first-round round draft pick in a late-December trade that brought Kyle Korver to Utah. He played in 12 games for the Sixers, averaging 3.1 points in 9.2 minutes per game.
