Two roommates who got into a fight resulted in one man hospitalized with multiple stab wounds and the other in jail.
Just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sandy police received a call from an anonymous person claiming there might be a stabbing victim at 10287 South Locksley Road (1560 East), said Sandy police Sgt. Victor Quezada.
When police arrived no one was there, but officers received a call about the same time that a stabbing victim had shown up at Alta View Hospital. The man was later taken to Intermountain Medical Center in stable condition.
Based on interviews, Quezada said investigators were able to quickly determine the man at the hospital was the one they were seeking.
The 21-year-old victim told police he and his roommate got into an argument. A third person went to the house to break it up, Quezada said.
But when the argument appeared to be broken up, one roommate stabbed the other. Quezada said there was a large amount of blood in the house when officers arrived.
While officers were at the scene, the roommate returned to the home, he said. After interviewing with detectives, Jeremy Michael Fanning, 21, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault.
Detectives believe alcohol may have been a factor.
