That brings me to the sides. We had the baked beans, dark and tangy and just a little sweet, as well as a large order of thick-sauced macaroni and cheese that reminded me of the kind we used to get in elementary school. I really liked the black-eyed peas, which were both creamier and kickier than the regular beans, and the hush puppies, super-crisp outside and aromatic and tender inside. I was lucky to get one before my husband scarfed them down — he loves hush puppies.

Q4U offers some tempting dessert options. We had the banana bread pudding, which was wonderfully seasoned and creamy, though I found its bananas oddly firm. Our very favorite, practically the highlight of our meal, was the excellent peach cobbler, tender peaches in a light sauce with a biscuit crust on top.

Sandwiches $6.99-$7.29, dinners $8.99-$19.99, sides and specialties 79 cents-$4.99, desserts $3.29.
