Recently, some have proposed that the International Baccalaureate program is anti-American and causes rebellion among youth. For this reason HB266, which would have provided money for IB programs in the state, has been defeated. The IB program, with its academic rigor and required hours of community service, benefits the students of Utah who seek a quality education. The IB program continues to produce politically active, responsible citizens who cherish the freedom America offers. Has our Legislature reached the point where the unfounded claims and sensationalism of the few overcome common sense?
