HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (AP) Jeremy Wotherspoon of Canada edged Joji Katoin to clinch the World Cup speedskating title in the 500 meters on Saturday.
Wotherspoon won in 34.92 seconds and captured the overall title with 1,080 points. Kato of Japan finished second in 35.07, and Dmitry Lobkov of Russia was third with 35.12.
On Friday, Shani Davis of the U.S. beat Denny Morrison to claim the World Cup title in the 1,500. Davis finished in 1 minute, 45.25 seconds.
