SKIING: With a second-place finish at the NCAA Western Regional on Saturday, the Utah ski team became the only Western squad to qualify a full 12-member team for the NCAA Championships in Bozeman, Mont.
"It was a great day for Utah," director of skiing Eli Brown said. "We came to Bozeman with one important goal to qualify a full team for the NCAA Championship.... Every one of our athletes and coaches should be proud of what we accomplished. It's been a great season."
Snorri Einarsson led all Ute finishers with a second-place finish in the 20K Classic. Ben Fick crossed the line eighth while Casey Simons was 10th.
Annelies Cook and Sara Schweiger were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women's 15-km Classic. Zoe Roy placed eighth.
On the alpine hill, Thomas Zumbrunn and Scott Veenis finished third and fourth, respectively, in the men's slalom.
Mikaela Grassl led the Utes with a fifth-place finish in the women's slalom.WOMEN'S TENNIS: The University of Utah women's tennis team held its composure against Kansas State, eventually dominating the Wildcats with a 6-1 victory.
MEN'S TENNIS: The University of Utah men's tennis team rallied together Friday night for a 7-0 domination over the Nevada Wolf Pack. The Utes remain undefeated at home as they improved to 4-4 overall.

SOFTBALL: Led by first baseman Dani Snow, the BYU women's softball team defeated Virginia, 5-1, at the Tennessee Classic in Knoxville Tenn., on Saturday. On Friday the Cougars (9-5) fell 4-2 to Louisiana-Monroe and defeated Wagner 10-0.
TRACK & FIELD: BYU's Krystle Forester threw 43 feet 6 inches in the shot put to win the event at the Wildcat Indoor Open at Bonneville High School on Thursday. Forester, a freshman from Newport, Ore., was in seventh place until her final throw. Freshman Deezbaa Whaley, from Kayenta, Ariz., took third in the 20-pound weight throw, tossing the weight 53 feet 3 inches.
GOLF: With a final-round score of 280, the BYU men's golf team finished tied for eighth at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate tournament in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Sophomore Robbie Fillmore led the way for the Cougars as he finished ninth overall and 9-under-par for the tournament. Freshman Esteban Calisto finished tied for 34th at 4-under-par.
