The Wasatch Family Therapy Clinic, 7084 S. 2300 East, Suite 120, in Cottonwood Heights, is collecting jeans and providing free and confidential eating disorder screenings, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. To sign up for a screening, e-mail info@wasatchfamilytherapy.com or call 801-944-4555 ext. 5.
Julie A. Hanks, clinical director for Wasatch Family Therapy, said the jean collection is part of the national "Great Jeans Giveaway" sponsored by the National Eating Disorders Association. Hanks said "the giveaway serves as NEDA's signature event for an eating disorders awareness week to reinforce the message 'Embrace Your Genes, Wear Jeans that Fit the True You."'
They want people to embrace their own size and get rid of too-small jeans. It's part of celebrating your own body image. Those who bring in jeans can receive handouts on eating disorders and coupons for new jeans at TrueJeans.com.
