At the one year anniversary of a senseless tragedy, I would like to show thanks and gratitude for all those who have helped not only family but friends of the victims. Words can not say what it means to have people care who don't even know you or haven't met you. Thank you to all those who even offered up a prayer. That helps in time of trial very much. Supervisors, instructors, leaders, friends and many others reached out when this took place, and this made me a different person.
Tragedy of this magnitude can only be dealt with and healing can only come through Jesus Christ and his teachings. To rely on Christ is the difference. The Atonement reaches out to everyone and anyone in need and even better those who aren't in need as well. I have been so blessed by not only feeling peace in my heart from time to time but with the love and prayers of others.
Many long days and nights have been spent in thought wondering what I could have done different. Did Teresa really know how I felt? Did I convey to her in more than just words that I loved her and that she was important to me? I think for most, in a time of tragedy most ask several questions and ponder what is really important. Am I ready to go if this happened to me? Have I shown family and friends love that will help them when I go? I think questions like this and many others are asked when something of this magnitude happens.
I know for me personally I am a better person for time spent with Teresa and her family. I remember different times when Teresa made me feel loved through tough times of our own. When we found out that we couldn't have kids she was reassuring to me that everything would work out. I tried to reassure her the same thing when she had her doubts. I enjoyed her company and never felt judged around her. May the Lord bless and be with all those who have been affected by such a terrible event. All we can do is remember and always demonstrate love to others.
