SAVANA GINES, Tabiona, basketball

CONNOR BARTON, Rowland Hall, swimming: This four-year varsity swimmer dominated the 3A state tournament two weeks ago. He led the Winged Lions to a seventh-place finish by finishing first in his two respective events, the 200 free and 100 butterfly.

In the 100 fly, he swam an All-American time of 51.01 and was named the 3A male swimmer of the year.

"Connor was a good leader — he was willing to help the others on the team with technique, and he was very amenable to suggestions," said Rowland Hall co-head coach Mark Gray.

Barton is also a senior class president at RHSM, he maintains a 3.69 GPA, and he plans on swimming for Colorado College next year.

"Connor is a fun-loving person who has just started to realize his athletic potential," said RHSM co-head coach Sara Watchorn.

SAVANA GINES, Tabiona, basketball: This senior does about everything but keep score for the Tigers.

"She runs the whole show," said Tabiona head coach Doug Price. "She sees the floor really well and she just works her tail off."

Gines is leading the state in scoring as she averages just over 24 points per game. Easygoing, Gines is also the player who keeps the other players motivated and in line. Her leadership skills have been especially important to Tabiona this year as they returned just one other starter from last year. Price said the volleyball and track star works just as hard in the classroom, maintaining a 3.9 GPA.

"She's just a great kid," he said.
