John Hanshaw, president of HCA MountainStar Healthcare, has been appointed to lead the American Hospital Association's Section for Metropolitan Hospitals during the upcoming year. This is a national forum where suburban and urban hospitals discuss common interests and concerns as well as participate in the AHA policy process.
Hanshaw will chair the section's 25-member governing council. He is immediate past chairman of the Utah Hospital Association board of trustees.
As head of HCA MountainStar Healthcare, Hanshaw oversees facilities in Utah, Idaho and Alaska. These include nine acute care hospitals and multiple outpatient surgery and imaging centers.
Prior to becoming president of MountainStar in October 2005, Hanshaw was CEO of St. Mark's Hospital for nine years.
