President Hinckley taught positive change

President Hinckley's integrity and kindness in dealing with others was exemplary. A longtime neighbor shared that when he was a young boy he dented the Hinckleys' car while trying to show that he could drive. He said that President and Sister Hinckley took care of it privately, and to his knowledge never even mentioned it to their own children.

President Hinckley's cheerfulness was evident in all he did, reminding me of a story also shared in "Glimpses." It's about a little boy who asked his mother to play darts with him. When she said she didn't know how, he said, "Oh, I just stand right here and throw darts, and you stand over there and say, 'Wonderful, wonderful!'"

That was President Hinckley, continually telling others, "Wonderful, wonderful." Always seeing the good in others, in situations and in difficulties.

All who knew and loved him the world over, from leaders of nations to small children, could stand and say of him, "Wonderful, wonderful." We will miss his humor, warmth, optimism and fully lived life of Christ-like virtues. May we choose a teaching from the many he shared to help us create positive change in our lives this week.
