Brewer out, Miles to start for Jazz vs. Kings

SACRAMENTO — Starting shooting guard Ronnie Brewer will not play in the Jazz's game against Sacramento tonight due to a severely bruised tailbone.

Reserve swingman C.J. Miles will start in Brewer's place, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said after Friday's morning shootaround.

The decision to go with Miles allows Sloan to keep his bench rotation, including backup shooting guard Kyle Korver and backup small forward Matt Harpring, intact.

"I think those guys kind of know when they're going in the game," Sloan said. "The people off the bench, they're really critical for you — and these guys play well off the bench, and that's helped us.

"I like to keep them in their rhythm," the Jazz coach added, "because they play a lot of minutes anyway."

It will be the first game missed this season by Brewer, who was hurt when he got yanked to the floor on a layup attempt by Denver big man Kenyon Martin during the Jazz's win Wednesday over the Nuggets.

That will leave, presuming they both play, starting point guard Deron Williams and backup power forward Paul Millsap as the only two Jazz players to appear in all 51 games this season.
