PROVO Installing a traffic light is a must at 1390 N. Geneva Road to ensure students can cross Geneva Road safely to the new elementary school being built in Provo's Lakeview neighborhood, agree members of Provo School Board and Provo City Council.
They plan to discuss the proposed light with the Utah Department of Transportation.
The issue was one of several items, including parking and future development projects, discussed during a joint meeting Wednesday at the Performing Arts Center in Provo.
"People are very, very concerned. There is a significant amount of children in that subdivision," said Provo City Councilwoman Sherrie Hall Everett.
Provo District Superintendent Randall J. Merrill said, "We have the same concerns."
The district's new 800-student capacity elementary school is at 1390 N. 2860 West. It is expected to be finished in March with students attending this fall.
