MIDWAY — Four elite sculptors will compete to determine who is the "Ultimate Ice Carver" at Zermatt Resort & Spa's Masters Ice Carvers Exhibition and Tournament as part of Heber Valley's Winterfest celebration Feb. 22 and 23.

Head-to-head competition will begin 6 p.m. Feb. 22 as carvers tackle two 300-pound ice blocks with an hour time limit. On Feb. 23, each carver takes on four blocks within two hours beginning at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Judges will award points to determine who will compete in Saturday's 2 p.m. semifinals and 3 p.m. finals.

Admission to the Masters Ice Carving Exhibition & Tournament and related weekend festivities is free.

Winterfest is an areawide celebration commemorating Heber Valley's Olympic legacy and a showcase for the area's winter activities. Just minutes from Zermatt Resort, the Swiss-themed Midway Town Square will be celebrating Winterfest throughout the weekend with competitions, dueling chainsaw ice carving, bands and fireworks.
