Bill would assess fee for amending campaign disclosure forms

The House passed a bill Monday to require candidates for political office and other groups to pay a fee for amending their campaign finance disclosure form.

The fee would be no lower than $25. Sponsoring Rep. Sheryl Allen, R-Bountiful, said the goal of her measure, HB41, is to ensure that candidates file accurate reports.

"Some are amending their reports in what could easily be titled in an excessive way," she said. "The public needs to know that these reports are as accurate as possible."

HB41 now moves to the Senate for debate.
