The Salt Lake City Film Center will premiere "Meeting Resistance," a film about Iraqi insurgents and what makes them tick on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Orson Spencer Hall, University of Utah campus, 260 Central Campus Drive.
Photojournalists and the film's producers Molly Bingham and Steven Connors will be at the screening. After being held at Abu Ghraib prison, photojournalist Bingham returned with her partner Connors to Iraq to interview insurgents. The result is a film that provides insight into the personal narratives of people involved in the resistance.
Through its access to clandestine groups, "Meeting Resistance" focuses the spotlight on the "other side," clarifying why the violence in Iraq continues to this day and providing a deeper understanding of both the toll of occupation and the human condition of resistance. The screening is free to the public.
