A jury trial for a West Valley woman charged with killing her 14-month-old son is expected to begin Monday in 3rd District Court.
Mesepa Heimuli, 29, is charged with first-degree felony murder in connection with the death of her child on Dec. 2, 2007, in her home while her two other children, ages 2 and 4, were present.
When Heimuli's husband came home later, she told him she believed there was something wrong with the child. The man found the boy dead but neither adult called the police for several hours, according to court documents.
An autopsy report showed the child died from a closed head injury. Police also said there were other bruises and scratches on the body.
The trial is expected to last four days.
