NORTH SALT LAKE The public is invited to an open house today to review plans for a new traffic lane from 500 North in Salt Lake City to the I-215 overpass in Davis County.
The new lane will be used as an express lane, where carpoolers, motorcyclists, people on the bus or with an eco-friendly car can drive for free. Solo motorists can pay $50 a month to use the lane, which currently runs through Salt Lake County and into Utah County.
As part of the construction, bridges at Beck Street, U.S. 89 and 1100 North will be replaced. The Utah Department of Transportation is anticipating construction will begin after the Legacy Parkway opens this fall.
Tonight's meeting will be from 4 until 8 at the North Salt Lake City Hall, located at 20 S. Highway 89.
