Dixie State

VOLLEYBALL: Jason Stout has been hired to be the Dixie State women's volleyball coach, athletic director Dexter Irvin announced. Stout joins the Rebels after a stint as an assistant coach at Utah women's volleyball team. He is also currently serving as the Head Coach of the Summit Volleyball Club 15 Gold.

Prior to serving as an assistant coach, Stout has helped with several programs throughout the state. He has worked at Salt Lake CC, Utah State, West Lake Junior High, Bonneville Junior High and Taylorsville High School.

MEN'S TENNIS: The Ute men's tennis team swept Utah State 7-0 shortly after posting a 6-1 win over Weber State this past Saturday.

INDOOR TRACK: USU's Nick Karren earned WAC indoor track athlete of the week honors for the second straight week for his 400-meter win in a personal-best 48.66 and for helping the 4x400 relay team win at the Washington State Cougar Indoor Invitational.

BASEBALL: At Las Vegas, Drew Oldfield drove in a bases-loaded winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Bruins beat Gateway College 4-3 Saturday. SLCC (2-1) split its two earlier games. Preston Grimes threw 3 1/3 innings of shutout baseball with six strikeouts to earn the win for Salt Lake. SLCC split its two earlier games, defeating Gateway College 11-8 then falling to Cochise College 10-3. The Bruins head to Prescott, Ariz., Feb. 4-5 to face Yavapai College.
