Young Utah cancer survivors are being invited to apply for $2,500 scholarships to help pay for higher education, courtesy of the American Cancer Society.
The Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program provides some financial assistance up to $10,000 per student in increments of $2,500 per academic year. Applications are being accepted through Feb. 22. Application packets can be obtained by calling 866-500-3272 or 800-227-2345.
The scholarships may be used for tuition, fees and books required for course instruction at an accredited college, university, community college or vocational/technical school.
Applicants must be cancer survivors diagnosed before the age of 21 and be age 25 or younger at the time of submitting the application. They must be graduating from a high school or continuing college in the upcoming school year, be a U.S. citizen and resident of Utah and have a 2.5 GPA. The scholarships are for those who will be full-time students. The scholarships will be awarded in May and there is no automatic renewal, so past recipients need to reapply for the scholarship each year.
More information is available by calling 800-227-2345 or online at www.cancer.org.
