The man police say was the getaway driver in the murder of a Salt Lake hair salon owner is headed for trial.
Jesus Alarcon Jimenez, 22, made a brief appearance in 3rd District Court Friday for what was scheduled to be a final pretrial conference.
Defense attorney Kimberly Clark told Judge Deno Hemonas she did not foresee any resolution to the case prior to trial. A trial was set begin Jan. 29 and last three days but on Friday was moved to April 1.
Another pre-trial conference is set for March 28.
Jimenez is charged with murder and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies. Prosecutors say he was the getaway driver in the Aug. 15 shooting death of 24-year-old Faviola Hernandez. Hernandez was the owner of The Shop hair salon, 1329 W. California Ave. She was shot during a robbery attempt, according to police.
Jimenez wore a tan inmate jumpsuit in court Friday with his hands cuffed in front of him. He did not say anything during his brief appearance.
Police Friday were still looking for the man believed to be the gunman, 19-year-old Miguel Mateos-Martinez.
