LOGAN Police have released the name of a man who drowned in a pit of manure.
The Cache County Sheriff's Office said Victor Gomez, 23, died when he fell into an iced-over manure pit at a Nibley dairy farm on Jan. 18. The Logan man was rounding up some cows that got loose, broke through the ice and sunk into the 8-foot deep pit.
Deputies described the pit as "quicksand-like," being filled with manure, water and urine. When the man didn't return quickly, co-workers followed his tracks in the snow to the pit.
