ST. GEORGE Mi'kel Wilson, a student at Dixie High School in St. George, has won $1,000 from AAA of Utah after winning an essay contest about the importance of safe driving. The contest was to memorialize the life of Katelyn Gabbitas, who was killed in a crash on a canyon road.
Cindy Gabbitas, mother of Katelyn, said in a statement that Wilson's essay was thorough and had a lot of research about teen crashes. "TheseThis facts and information in this winning essay really hit home in relation to Katelyn's crash," Gabbitas said.
Wilson will be honored with an award for her essay on Wednesday.
