A parolee who is known to be armed and dangerous used his vehicle to try to ram a sheriff's patrol car early Friday.
About 12:40 a.m. a member of the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit spotted a stolen vehicle near 4500 South and 900 East. As the deputy followed the car from a distance to wait for backup, the man apparently realized he was being followed and sped away, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.
The man sped ahead of the officer and tried to hide in the driveway of a random house. When the deputy drove by, the man attempted to ram the deputy's patrol vehicle, Jaroscak said. The deputy was able to get out of the way before being hit. The man's car sped off.
