High school athletes of the week

HOLTON HUNSAKER, Woods Cross, boys basketball: The Wildcats are off to an 11-1 start, and the play of this future Louisiana Tech point guard is a big reason why.

Last week Hunsaker finished with 13 points in a 56-44 win over Sky View, and followed it up with 29 points and six 3-pointers in a 78-62 blowout of Bonneville.

"He's kind of like a coach on the floor for us," said Woods Cross coach Todd Street. "He gets us in the right position defensively and gets us in the right offense. It's quite a luxury to have a player like that on the floor."

Hunsaker, who maintains a 3.99 GPA, is averaging 17.5 points, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals this season.

"The points are just a fraction of the things he does," said Street. "He's the hardest-working player I've ever seen."

AUBREY LINDGREN, South Sevier, basketball: This junior isn't the average three-sport athlete. She's so athletic, she's not only a starter, she's been named all-state in volleyball, basketball and softball.

"She's a great athlete," said South Sevier head coach Randy Madsen. "She's very quick and athletic."

Lindgren is averaging a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds per game. She helped the Rams to an impressive 28-game win streak, which was broken last Thursday in a double overtime loss to region rival Richfield. With only two seniors on the team, Lindgren leads often by example.

"She's a great young lady," said Madsen. "She's well-liked by all the kids in the school, and she's a hard worker. After the loss, she came into practice refocused and ready to work."
