Utah's teacher shortage hasn't been helped by recruiters from Wyoming and Nevada offering better pay and bonuses. But New York City?

A billboard urging professionals to teach in New York City hovers in downtown Salt Lake City, near the Gallivan Center public gathering space.

The New York Department of Education says the message comes under a partnership with the Ad Council. The deal is, where there's space available on billboards nationwide, the Ad Council may place an ad aimed at curbing New York City's teacher shortage, New York's education department spokeswoman Melody Meyer said.

So really, the Big Apple doesn't have an eye on the Beehive State's best. But, Meyer said, they're happy to take applications.

"We look everywhere we can to possibly find talented teachers who want to come to New York to teach," she said.
