LDS missionary from Utah dies in South Africa

According to a statement released Saturday by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Sandy missionary was killed in an automobile accident Jan. 11. The statement said Elder Chad Steven Wayman, 21, Sandy, and Elder Stephen Riska Turnbow, 20, Draper, serving in the South Africa Johannesburg Mission were involved in an automobile accident.

The statement said that Elder Wayman died at the accident scene and Elder Turnbow suffered cuts and minor injuries. The vehicle rolled when Elder Wayman swerved to avoid a man walking on the highway after dark.
