Salt Lake City police arrested two suspects Saturday wanted in the death of 16-year-old Diego Mendoza, who was shot in the parking lot of a downtown Sears store last Sunday.
The two suspects are: Luis Salazar Mendoza, 23, and a 17-year-old. Mendoza is believed to be the shooter, according to a police media release, while Rodriguez is believed to be his accomplice.
On Friday night, police identified the two as primary suspects in the shooting and issued warrants for their arrest. At around 2 a.m. Saturday, police found a vehicle connected to one of the two suspects at a Motel 6 in Woods Cross. Contact was made with the two men, who were then arrested.
The Salt Lake City Police Department's Gang Unit, Metro Gang Unit, the FBI and homicide detectives were all involved in the arrest.
