U. ski teams face poor conditions

In the men's nordic, Rene Reisshauer of Denver won the event with a time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 28.4 seconds. Colorado skiers Kit Richmond and Matthew Gelso finished 2nd and 3rd. Utah's top finisher was Snorri Einarsson with a time of 1:03.22. Even Sletten of Utah was 10th and Ben Fick was 16th.

Schools competing include Denver, Nevada, Utah, the University of Alaska, Anchorage, Montana State, University of Colorado, University of New Mexico, Western State College, Whitman College and the University of Wyoming.

Today, the men and women will switch, with the women skiing a GS and the men a slalom. The nordic skiers will race in a mass-start freestyle event, starting at 9 a.m.

Utah also did well in the women's slalom, finishing 4-5-6. Lucie Zikova of Colorado won with a two-run time of 1:33.35. Second was Stefanie Klocker of Alaska in 1:34.76

Eva Hockova of Utah was 4th, Chirine Njeim was 5th and Mikaela Grassl was sixth.
