Want to talk about "gay worms" and other new scientific discoveries? Join University of Utah biology professor Erik Jorgensen at Port O'Call tonight for the U.'s first "Science Night Live."

The event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Port O'Call, a private club at 78 W. 400 South. Jorgensen, who is also scientific director of the U.'s Brain Institute, will speak about research in which he and colleagues genetically manipulated the sexual orientation of nematode worms. Jorgensen also today published an article in the journal "Cell" that showed that protons act like neurotransmitters in roundworms.

The U.'s College of Science hopes to periodically run the Science Night Live events at local pubs and other gathering places.
