WEST VALLEY CITY An argument between two brothers resulted in one being arrested for investigation of attempted murder.
Just after 9 a.m. Monday, the brothers, who live in a house near 300 South and 3600 West, got into an argument over use of a cell phone, said West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan. That's when one brother retrieved a gun and fired at least one shot through his brother's bedroom door, McLachlan said. The second brother said more than one shot was fired. He was not injured.
When police arrived, the brother who was shot at jumped out of his second story window to meet officers, McLachlan said. Inside the house, officers heard a ruckus that sounded either like more gunfire or someone possibly damaging the house, he said. A SWAT team was called and after establishing contact with the brother inside, he walked out and surrendered.
Officers found "a large amount of damage inside the house" and "evidence of shots fired," McLachlan said. A firearm and a "large amount of ammo" were recovered.
Bryce Spears, 28, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted aggravated murder.
