Here comes procession of bridal shows
Couples can get tips and ideas as they plan their big day
Lost in lace? Confused about caterers?
Not sure how much is too much to pay for top-quality wedding photos and video memories?
What's new in the way of bridal gowns, diamond rings, wedding cakes and are brides today wearing veils?
The wedding shows have answers with a hefty gathering of vendors ready to sell their nuptial wares from event entertainment to honeymoon cottages.
Five are scheduled between now and April with another round being planned after June.
At each event, the bride gets in free if she registers (thus freeing up her address for the businesses that want to send her their marketing materials).
At most, she and her groom can win prizes, receive free gift bags, free wedding planners and portfolios full of coupons and money-saving offers. (For booking with at least three vendors at the Bridal Extravaganza, the happy couple gets a two-day, one-night getaway.)
Some feature a groom's room so he can relax in front of a big-screen television and munch on fresh popcorn while his intended browses the collection of tables featuring everything from travel options to invitations and fine china. She can sit back and see the latest in wedding fashions at shows specifically designed for brides, bridesmaids, mothers of brides and grooms of brides.
At the Bride & Groom Gala, he can compete in the frozen T-shirt or cake-eating contest.
Marcee Kitchen, the owner of Dippidee's in American Fork, participates in each show she can.
It's a chance to show potential customers her unique and fun ideas for different kinds of wedding cakes. (There's a crazy, multilayered cake on her Web site that defines her fresh thinking when it comes to cake decorating.)
