Saturday on TV

Int'l Bowl (10 a.m., ESPN2): Ball State vs. Rutgers

College basketball (noon, The mtn.): Air Force at Utah

NFL playoffs: Redskins at Seahawks (2:30 p.m., Ch. 5); Jaguars at Steelers (6 p.m., Ch. 5)

Charlie and Me (7 p.m., Hallmark): Tom Bosley stars as a grandfather making a belated attempt to build a relationship with his son and granddaughter.

NBA (8 p.m., Ch. 14): Jazz at Trail Blazers

Sunday on TV

NFL playoffs: Giants at Buccaneers (11 a.m., Ch. 13); Titans at Chargers (2:30 p.m., Ch. 2)

GMAC Bowl (6 p.m., ESPN): Bowling Green vs. Tulsa

60 Minutes (6:30 p.m., Ch. 2): CBS plans to have all its programming start 30 minutes later than usual because of the network's NFL coverage. Of course, you never know how long a football game will last so this is not set in stone.

The Simpsons (7 p.m., Ch. 13): Springfield becomes the site of the first-in-the-nation presidential primary — and Ralph Wiggum becomes the leading candidate. (Really.)

The Amazing Race (7:30 p.m., Ch. 2): A volatile relationship implodes as the racers travel to Japan.

King of the Hill (7:30 p.m., Ch. 13): Hank seeks help from a spiritualist to control Ladybird's fear of loud noises.

Desperate Housewives (8 p.m., Ch. 4): Who survived the tornado? (This is the last episode completed before the writers' strike stopped production.)

American Gladiators (8 p.m., Ch. 5): NBC scrapes the bottom of the barrel and comes up with a rehash of the 1989-97 syndicated series. The network didn't provide any footage to critics, which means it didn't want us to see it.

Cold Case (8:30 p.m., Ch. 2): The team searches for a serial bomber.

Shark (9:30 p.m., Ch. 2): Sebastian's longtime friend and former partner is murdered

The Wire (10 p.m., HBO): One of TV's best series returns for its final season. Both the police department and the local newspaper staff are going through cutbacks.
