Utah's attorneys do try to give back to the community. Many law firms donate millions of dollars to fund community legal services, which offer free legal advice to people who cannot afford an attorney, such as those who are disabled or victims of domestic violence.
Pro bono, or free, legal advice has also been given since 1988 during the "Tuesday Night Bar." Volunteer attorneys meet with members of the public for legal advice in clinics across the state. More information can be accessed at www.utahbar.org/public/tuesday_night_bar.html.
Snow said he does believe Utah's attorneys do take pride in setting professional standards. "It is also a profession where those standards become on display. The public is aware of those standards and as a result, we're held and expected to hold ourselves to those standards," Snow said.
