Billy is a lovely 10-year-old Siamese cat whose owners moved and left him at the shelter. He's mellow and extremely loving and affectionate. Although he's older, if he lives safely indoors, he will have many more years of life. This sweet boy's adoption fee is $65.

Emmie and Billy would love to start the New Year as members of new families. You can help by having your own pets spayed or neutered — if you haven't already — to improve their health, make them less likely to bite and discourage them from roaming. Also, take a moment to ensure that your dogs and cats are wearing current identification tags and a license if required, and arrange to have them microchipped. Sign dogs up for obedience classes, if they are a bit wild or naughty so that you'll never be tempted to get rid of them. Vow to keep your pets safe by keeping cats indoors and dogs in a fenced yard or on a leash. And if you're in the market for a new furry friend, make a promise to save a life by adopting a pet from the shelter instead of buying one from a breeder or pet store.
