PROVO Snow College All-American safety Andrew Rich announced he will walk on to BYU's football team and have four years to play three seasons for the Cougars.
Rich, who is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, was offered scholarships by the University of California and Boise State. He earned All-America honors this past year as a secondary player for the top-ranked Badgers. The Cougars lose Quinn Gooch and Corby Hodgkiss from the MWC's No. 1-ranked defense.
Rich is one of six Snow College players to earn All-America honors. Rich and BYU-bound defensive lineman Coleby Clawson and linebacker Josh Sharp were named to the first team. Tevita Hola, another defensive lineman who has signed to play for the Cougars, earned honorable mention All-America honors.
"We had an amazing season and all these guys deserve this," said Snow head coach Steve Coburn. "I am proud of the entire team for the season we put together."
The Badgers finished the regular season 11-0 and ranked No. 1 in the nation.
