Pets of the week

Jigi is a handsome, thoroughly mixed 1-year-old boy who appears to be a cross between shepherd/chow and Rottweiler. He's a big, calm cutie who walks well on a leash and who seems smart and eager to learn. He's friendly and extremely waggy. Jigi's adoption fee is $95.

Twinkle is a 2-month-old male long-haired black kitten. He's cuddly and cute, and he loves to be held. His motor truly never stops. He's very playful and fun and has loads of love to share. Twinkle's adoption fee is $65.

Twinkle would like to point out the abundance of kittens available for adoption this holiday season. Although he admits that he's no scientist, Twinkle believes that climate change may have resulted in mama cats with longer breeding cycles than in the past. Normally, cats stop having kittens in the winter months, and then they all have their litters in the spring. Several years ago, there were few if any kittens around in the winter, and people would call the shelters at Christmastime, desperate to find a kitten to adopt. For the last few years, we have received kittens all winter, and this year our kitten room has looked as crowded as it did in the spring. Please spay and neuter your furry friends and come adopt a sweet pet like Twinkle at Salt Lake County Animal Services, 511 W. 3900 South, or call 269-7499.
