The woman hit and killed Wednesday night in an auto-pedestrian accident in Salt Lake City has been identified.
Athala Oliveres, 20, from Peru, was crossing North Temple at 1876 West when she was struck by an SUV. The driver said he did not see the woman. She was not in a crosswalk, was wearing dark clothing and crossing in an unlit area.
The speed limit in that area is 50 mph, and investigators believe she may have misjudged the speed of oncoming vehicles.
No citations were issued, but a routine blood draw was taken from the driver to check for signs of alcohol or drugs.
