WHAT THEY DID

Players from BYU and UCLA visited Sunrise Children's Hospital in the morning. Later, the Cougars held an hour-long practice at Valley High School while the Bruins had a two-hour afternoon practice at UNLV's campus. The two teams participated in the pep rally and ate at the Outback Buffet Bowl as part of the Fremont Street Experience.

TODAY'S SCHEDULE

The coaches from both teams, BYU's Bronco Mendenhall and UCLA's DeWayne Walker, as well as selected players, are scheduled to attend the Kickoff Media Conference today, followed by the Kickoff Luncheon. The Cougars and Bruins will hold their final practices of the season in the afternoon.

QUOTABLE

"It's going to be fun. I was here last year but I was on the sidelines because of injuries. Guys are always talking about going to a bowl game. This will be like a mini-Super Bowl in a sense. I can't wait to get out there and play." — BYU running back Harvey Unga on playing in his first bowl game.

LAS VEGAS BOWL NOTE

WORTH NOTING

Former BYU quarterback John Beck holds the Las Vegas Bowl records for most passing attempts (53 in 2005), most completions (35 in 2005), most yards passing (375 in 2006) and most total yards (401 in 2006).
